    | Sight seeing isn't very good in Kazakhstan in winter. When my
brother Ronald and his girlfriend Renske came to visit us in Almaty, we
decided to go to Kyrgystan. Locals advised against it, they said there was
too much snow. No problem, we were looking for some adventure anyway...

    | Mountains, we're coming!   |

    | No comment...   |

    | The highest point on the route, a mountain pass of 3,500 metres. Yes,
there was snow on the way, but we managed without any problems. Never
      listen to the locals...   |

    | The other side of the pass: surrounded by white mountain tops, most of
      them around 4,000 metres.   |

    | Staying in the biggest sanatorium around Lake Issykul. This is where the
highest in the party came for a holiday.   |

    | Renske enjoying the winter sun. I actually dipped in the lake (water of
5 degrees!) when they were still sleeping. Nobody believes it, since there
      weren't any witnesses...   |

    | We're all in an excellent mood on the way back to Kazakhstan. Shooting
the Christmas card of 2001, 2002, and so on.   |

    | Snow around us, but not on the road, right?   |

    | This truck had to safe us hours later. We had been digging out the car
four times, but didn't even get one kilometre further! Getting home at
three 'o clock at night (the plan was six 'o clock in the evening). So
the locals were right after all.... But we got our adventure!   | |
